Today our aim was the 2 middle munros of Sgurr a Ghreadaidh, Sgurr a Mhadaidh. The forecast was for very strong winds so we walked up with an open mind.
There were a few strong gusts that stopped us in our tracks and once at the base of An Dorus getting kitted up in helmets and harnesses and extra layers was a comedy dance against the wind and was the hardest part of the day.
We made our way up An Dorus and got to the top of Sgurr a Mhadaidh and the winds were less strong than in the corrie. Surprised, we made our way up to Sgurr a Ghreadaidh along the more exposed ridge with the winds not too bad and made the summit.
On the descent back down An Dorus the winds had died completely and it was a pleasant walk back out, a big contrast to a few hours before.
Always worth having a look and seeing what it is like on the high hills.
