Today i was out with Mat for a ski tour up to the summit of Geal Charn. It was skis on from the car again ready for the longer skin in along the track from Loch Laggan.
There was a good amount of fresh snow overnight to cover the track to enable good progress all the way up to the col at 700m.
From there we broke off the track and headed towards the summit of Geal Charn. With a good base at this height the going was good up the steeper sections with a lot of rime crust on the surface.
Once at the summit the clouds cleared well enough to remove the skins and ski down in the sun. From the summit to about 750m the skiing was good over powder and with great views. Below 750m we entered the heather/snow combo and made our way down more cautiously and acrobatically to the track back at 400m. It was then a final skin back to the car.
Another good day on the skis in Scotland in the sun.
