Today we headed for Glen Shiel and the classic outing up the munro of The Saddle via the Forcan ridge.
The walk up to the ridge is pretty easy, thanks to a very good path that takes you up to about 650m in no time at all.
From there along the ridge is a series of mica slabs and narrow aretes that make for some enjoyable scrambling. There is a worn track taking the easier line but we stayed to the crest as much as possible.
We managed to get to the end of the difficulties and the bad step, before the rain really started, we decided to go round the bad step to the left rather than do the abseil, due to the weather. From there we then made a quick exit down and back to the dry stone wall that marks the bypass route round the ridge.
