Good to get out with fellow instructors Max and Lena today on the familiar East ridge of the north summit of Stob Ban a good and varied grade 2 mountaineering ridge.
Over the last few days the snow line had pushed up the mountains a bit and it felt a bit warmer walking in. We aimed for the base of the ridge to get the most from the day. There was only a light dusting of snow on the lower section so we ascended up the chimney and chockstone section without crampons and axes: 1 because it was easier to use gloved hands and 2 to save the turf on the route from being unnecessarily eroded.
From around half height we moved together over the more broken ridge and the narrower sections to the crest of the north ridge of Stob Ban.
