Today i was on Buachaille Etive Mor in Glencoe teaching the basics of mountaineering ropework on Broad buttress.
We had the ridge to ourselves all day with lots of people walking round to Rannoch wall and Curved ridge area.
We started off the day on the broken ribs looking at taking and tying mountaineering coils to transport the rope in an efficient manner. We then looked at body belaying on our way up and the pros and cons of this belaying method.
From there the buttress steepened for a few good rocky steps where we looked at upping the safety level by tying into anchors and using belay plates to safeguard the leader.
At the top we finally looked at abseiling setup to introduce the knowledge for future trips into the mountains.
It was a good day to be in the hills, great views, grippy rock and no wind, its turning into a really good autumn.
